A flight attendant with IndiGo Airlines has been accused of stealing a gold necklace from a five-year-old girl during a flight on April 1. The incident occurred while the child’s mother, Priyanka (wife of an ISRO scientist), was traveling with her two daughters from Thiruvananthapuram to Kolkata, with a layover in Bengaluru as reported by The Times of India.
Mid-flight, the two young girls began crying after a disagreement. To help calm them, a cabin crew member offered to take the older child for a brief walk inside the aircraft while Priyanka attended to her younger daughter. However, when the child was returned to her seat as the plane prepared to land in Bengaluru, Priyanka noticed that her daughter’s 20-gram gold necklace was missing.
Upon confronting the flight attendant, the staffer denied any wrongdoing. Priyanka then sought assistance from the airline, CISF, and airport authorities but claimed she received no immediate resolution. Officials later clarified that since the alleged theft occurred mid-air, the matter fell under the airline’s and local police’s jurisdiction. An investigation is now underway.
