Authorities discovered the alleged offenses during a surprise joint check at the Nashik office on November 13, 2024.

Mumbai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed 11 corruption cases against 15 officials from the Pay and Accounts (ORS) section of the Artillery/Army Aviation Centre (AAC) in Nashik, a unit functioning under the Ministry of Defence’s Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). The accused allegedly solicited and accepted bribes—frequently via intermediaries—from military personnel in exchange for processing their allowances and dues.

The irregularities were uncovered during a surprise joint inspection on November 13, 2024, at the Nashik office. The check was conducted alongside independent witnesses and representatives from the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Army), Pune, who were assigned by the CGDA’s vigilance wing in New Delhi, reported The Hindustan times.
During the joint inspection, authorities reportedly retrieved compromising evidence from the WhatsApp conversations of some suspects. These chats allegedly contain proof of bribe demands and financial exchanges in exchange for official favors. The mobile devices containing these chats are now held by the CGDA’s Vigilance Department.
On Tuesday, the CBI conducted raids at multiple locations tied to the accused, including properties in Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Ahmedabad, Fatehabad, and Nagpur.
The accused include auditors and assistant accounts officers posted at the Nashik CGDA office. Investigators suspect they collaborated with unidentified officials from the Artillery and AAC Record Office to fraudulently manipulate “Casualty” (Daily Part-II) orders—documents used to authorize salary benefits—and illegally profit from army personnel.
